My husband and I are big LEGO fanatics. As kids we grew up playing for HOURS quietly building and creating.

I grew up and moved away to college and my collection was given away…. my whole city.

Then one day, shortly after my husband and I met, we were reminiscing about our childhood and discovered our mutual love of this little brick building fun. He starting buying LEGOs® by the pound on eBay as gifts to help me rebuild my collection! Secretly he was feeding his passion too. A giant box would show up, we would open it up and enjoy the process of discovering what kind of buried treasure we would find. After all, it’s impossible to show every piece on an eBay listing like that.

And just like two kids, we would get lost for hours in the fascination of what we found, sorting through our box of treasure.

Christmas and birthdays small sets are often dropped into to the stockings so that over the last 15 years we’ve accumulated quite a bit.

Until a couple years ago we had most of our own stash hidden in the closet and had only let the kids play with some of the LEGOs®, gradually bringing out what we thought they could handle. I love their surprise and wonderment when they learned there were new pieces to explore!

By now, we’ve shared almost our entire stash 🙂 and let our kids explore with their own imaginations. We have also gotten back into building ourselves. It is wonderful to zone out working on our beachside town together as a family … all built with only our own creativity, complete with condo, cafe, and restaurant.  Our kids love that we have just as much fun building as they do and it’s a great way to have family time. 💗
