I’m an all or nothing kind of person. Either I’m going to do it or not. The challenging part sometimes is getting the family on board.

Day 2 of our journey was a good day and I was thrilled that everyone got on board… even my 2 kids, age 10 and 7. My youngest hadn’t been part of the original conversation but helping understand was not too bad.

I simply told them that we aren’t going to get rid of anything you love; we are making room to enjoy those things as activities you love even more. We made a list of what those enjoyable things are and we got to work on the craft cabinet.

The kids took turns with me helping them and we surprisingly got through each of their sections before lunch. We negotiated on things like their highlights, picking out their favorite ones from the total they had. Both did tremendous and got rid of a combined 25-35 items! Some went in the trash, some were handed down and others in a box to donate.

After lunch we tackled 2 more bins and made it fun too. While going through their markers they drew pictures to test them 😎

Meanwhile, hubby was going through his clothes in his dresser and closet and purged a large box worth.

After the kids got to bed we tackled the rest of the closet together. That’s when we uncovered memories from an old journal, all my poetry (that I’ve been searching for) and many random items… like astronaut freeze dried ice cream!

At the end of the day we had 2 trash bags full of garbage, and 2 boxes of stuff to donate or sell.

So far so good! We are feeling lighter already! We even found a little time to pick blackberries.

See you tomorrow.
