Does your life seem like a battle? Are you discouraged? depressed? confused? Do wish you had your own cheering squad to get you through the next moments or days?
We all have our journeys and every piece of that journey can serve a purpose beyond ourselves if only we believe. I’ve been through some stuff in my life, including surviving an abusive relationship. I could have lost hope and given up. There was a period of time that I was at a depth so low I didn’t want to crawl out, isolated and alone. I didn’t even pick up the phone.
Then one day – God sent someone to call on me and that was my turning point. It was ONE person that cared enough to reach out and say “Hey, what’s up? This isn’t like you not to call.” That phone call opened the door for me to begin healing and letting go.
Sometimes you are that person that needs the call. Sometimes you are the person that needs to reach out and make the phone call.
Today I look back and I can find the gratitude for those not so great experiences because they have helped shape me into who I am. They have strengthened a part of me that couldn’t have been if I had not walked through them. I am grateful that God was with me through all of it and still is with me every day.
If we accept what seems like a terrible or challenging situation and let God use it, we may be surprised by the outcome. Each journey is unique because it is ours and ours alone. No journey is better than or worse than the other… it just is. Own it.
Don’t give up. Don’t lose hope. Hang on to Him, call out to Him. He will be there through all of this. The Lord replied, “The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you.” [Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson]
